Judges Credentialing Committee Charter
Authority
The Judges Credentialing Committee (JCC) is chartered by Health Improvement Institute (Institute) under the presidents authority.
Membership
- The JCC consists of an Institute appointed chair and up to 8 additional members.
- The chair serves for one year. At the end of this term, the outgoing chair will be eligible for reappointment. The chair serves as the JCCs principal liaison with the Institute, and advises the Institute on all matters related to the JCC.
- The Institute appoints members of the JCC from among qualified volunteers.
- Members of the JCC serve for one year. After this term, members shall be eligible for reappointment and may serve a maximum total of 5 consecutive terms.
- Members who resign before their term is over must do so in writing. In the case of a vacancy on the JCC through death, resignation, or otherwise, the Institute shall appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the members term in the same manner as reappointed or new members.
Purpose
The role of the JCC is to assist and advise the Award program by:
- Developing policies and criteria for credentialing and selecting Award judges; revising policies and criteria in light of experience
- Determining if applicants meet credentialing criteria, and which type of Award applications the credentialed judges are best qualified to judge
- Deciding issues relating to credentialing and selecting Award judges.
Meetings
- For purposes of evaluating applications to become a judge for the Award competition, the Institute may assemble an unlimited number of credentialing panels of appropriate size from among JCC members, who may serve on multiple panels.
- The JCC (or credentialing panels) meets by circulation of documents, electronic communications, or face-to-face meetings, as appropriate, as often as necessary to fulfill its (their) purpose.
- The Institute provides the agenda and meeting materials.
- JCC (panel) meetings are open only to members.
- The quorum for conducting business and voting is 3 members.
- Decisions are made by majority vote of members meeting. In the case of a tied vote, the chairs vote breaks the tie. If the chair does not vote, the Institutes President decides the issue.
- The Institute records all JCC (panel) meeting decisions in minutes.
