The Award Judging Committee (AJC) is chartered by Health Improvement Institute (Institute) under the presidents authority. The Institute shall establish an AJC for each Award that the Institute establishes under the Award program.
Membership
- The AJC consists of an Institute appointed chair and an unlimited number of additional members whom the Judges Credentialing Committee considers qualified.
- The chair serves for one year. At the end of this term, the outgoing chair is eligible for reappointment. The chair serves as the AJCs principal liaison with the Institute, and advises the Institute on all matters related to the AJC.
- The Institute appoints members of the AJC from among qualified volunteers.
- Members of the AJC serve for one year. After this term, members are eligible for reappointment and may serve a maximum total of 5 consecutive terms.
- Members who resign before their term is over must do so in writing. In the case of a vacancy on the AJC through death, resignation, or otherwise, the Institute appoints a replacement to serve the balance of the members term in the same manner as reappointed or new members.
Committee Purpose
The role of the AJC is to assist and advise the Award program by:
- Developing criteria and polices for making the Award; revising policies and criteria in light of experience
- Reviewing calls for entry, evaluation materials, etc.
- Deciding issues relating to Award criteria, and evaluations of applications for the Award.
Meetings
- For purposes of evaluating applications for the Award, the Institute may assemble an unlimited number of judging panels of appropriate size from among AJC members, who may serve on multiple panels.
- The AJC (or judging panels) meets by circulation of documents, electronic communications, or face-to-face meetings, as appropriate, as often as necessary to fulfill its (their) purpose.
- The Institute provides the agenda and meeting materials.
- AJC (panel) meetings are open only to members.
- The quorum for conducting business and voting is 3 members.
- Decisions are made by majority vote of members meeting. In the case of a tied vote, the chairs vote breaks the tie. If the chair does not vote, the Institutes President decides the issue.
- The Institute records all AJC (panel) meeting decisions in minutes.
