The purpose of the Aesculapius Awards is to encourage excellence in health communications. In order to design a sound awards program, to assure quality, and to improve processes for making awards, Health Improvement Institute:

• Uses structured procedures to conduct the Aesculapius Awards competition to assure quality.
• Encourages entrants, judges, and other participants to provide feedback to improve quality.
• Has established a program to improve continuously award competition structures (for example, description, entry form), processes (for example, applying, judging), and outcomes (for example, website displays of and the utility of winning the Aesculapius Award to WWW sites and PSAs).
  

Continuous quality improvement mechanisms include the following:

• Annual analysis and evaluation of award program processes
• Solicited feedback from applicants, award judges, sponsors, and other participants
• Suggestions from
  • Institute staff
  • Award program participants and winners
  • Health education and media communities and the general public
    

The Institute uses feedback, including that received through this web site, to review, and, if advisable, to revise award criteria, entry materials, judging processes, etc for the coming year's competition.
