
HIIQA Advisory Board
- In September 1998, the Institute has established the HIIQA Advisory Board to guide the
process of developing the HIIQA Award, identifying and assessing awards to and ratings of
Internet health information sites, and continuously improving these processes.
- The HIIQA Advisory Board has a maximum of 15 members. They are appointed by the
Institute's president for one year renewable terms. Board members are selected from
various relevant segments of the Internet health information community. Members who
repeatedly do not perform their assigned duties in a timely and responsible fashion may be
removed from the board.
- Advisory Board members are volunteers. They do not receive payment for their
participation. Members sign the Institute's conflict of interest
policy statement.
- Advisory Board members serve as individual experts. They do not serve as representatives
of any organization by whom they may be employed or with which they may be associated.
- HIIQA Advisory Board members performs the following functions: comment on HIIQA
development plans, review HIIQA criteria/standards, determine which identified
awards/ratings meet HIIQA scope criteria, participate in various quality assurance and
quality improvement activities, and generally provide advice and guidance.
